Police on the lookout for aggressive drivers

If you are an aggressive driver who lives in Adams, Lancaster, Lebanon or York County, you may soon find yourself being pulled over. Pennsylvania's Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project started on Monday and will run through March 27. Local and state police will be on the lookout for aggressive driving behavior on not only the interstate, but also back roads as well.

One-third of traffic crashes and two-thirds of resulting deaths can be attributed to aggressive driving. Police will be on the lookout for drivers who are speeding, tailgating, improperly passing or running red lights. Drivers stopped as part of the campaign will receive a ticket.

Ah, Smooth Operator with a different name. FYI, this will be statewide and the initiative lasts until the end of March if I remember correctly. Focus is on speeding with some other stuff too, mostly commercial vehicle inspections, careless driving, and lane enforcement (turn signals, staying within your lane, switching lanes quickly, etc.)

If anyone's interested, you can go to Google and type in Pennsylvania Smooth Operator...the website should come up. They have some pretty cool pictures normally of traffic stops and speed enforcement devices on there (mostly ENRADD, Vascar plus, and radar) from across the state.

Great info! Thanks, I never knew how many smaller municipalities around my area actually have a ENRADD device.

I love how they say crackdown on the interstates yet you can drive forever on 80 and never see a cop. I can't even tell you the last time I saw a cop running speed enforcement on 80. Knock on wood. I99 in central PA seems to be more enforced probably due to the 55mph speed limit. Past two Monday nights there has been a trooper using I/O K at mile marker 58 shooting cars traveling northbound. The only local dept I ever see running enforcement is Pocono Regional, they're the ones who got me with VASCAR
