Man DC was dumb enough to give cops gas credit cards. I do not have to say what happened with that great idea. They ended up locking up 2 cops on payday. It was months after the credit cards had been given out. Basically the damage had already been done.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Not sure how it works in AL, but here in MD the state troopers all get take home cars and are allowed to use as much gas as they want. So, technically they could fill up their personal vehicle and no one would no.

Doesn't surprise me in the least bit. The primary focus of their job is to steal money from the people so why not do a bit extra while off duty?

Yeah, not a surprise at all. I know it's not just law enforcement personnel that "steals" gas in this manner, though. All kinds of people have gas cards issued to them by companies, and to think they also don't pull the same stuff off isn't logical. I'm sure it's an everyday occurrence for many, many people.

actually when I had a company car when you used the gas card you had to enter in the mileage. I think most if not all work this way. so if they were using the card for more fuel then they were supposed to they would figure it out. who ever pays the bill will get a mileage statement and mpg rating for each car. so if they have 10 CV's and 1 or 2 show a much higher fuel usage they will figure it out real quick.

Around me the township maintain their own gas pump, it sits by one of the maintenance facilities and you see the police standing there filling the patrol cars up all the time. I think many townships do the same thing, it is rip for abuse if someone is not monitoring the usage as a whole. Ever time gas prices go up you can bet people are tapping into government own pumps.

The idiots do not realize is they think oh no one will notice 5 Gal missing out of 3000 gal tank, well their buddies are saying the same thing and they too are taking gas and before you know it 100s of gals are missing.

I can tell you any government worker who has access to gas pumps, are skimming off the top a little, a 5 gal can here and there. As I said the problem happens when everyone is doing it
