Nobody knows when the yellow is coming and then to have 3.9 seconds to go from 55 - 65 down to zero is ridiculous. Sure, it works just fine for someone who is way back, but even in a passenger car 4 seconds from 65 to zero is more than I want to do. That is 65 mph * 5280 ft/mile ==> 343,200 ft/hr ==(/60)==> 5720 ft/min ==(/60)==> 95 feet per second @ 65 MPH

    3.9 seconds * 95 = 370 ft in 4 seconds.

I know this is a linear way to look at it when there really is a de-acceleration curve, but never the less the stopping distance here is not even 20 car lengths... It is totally unreasonable to expect a school bus or tanker to stop in that distance.

    Here you go...

    Minimum Yellow Time:

Simply put that yellow is not nearly long enough. It should be at least 5.8 seconds

I will tell you what the School Bus Company needs to do when getting these tickets...

Hire some competent attournys and contact the fuel tanker company to form a class then go gather evidence the light is too short and endangering children and the public to generate revenue putting drivers in an impossible situation, where they cannot stop.

Sue the company that runs the traffic cameras, and sue the city for setting the light timing wrong, claim to do it to protect the children and contact the media. It is time someone shed some light on this and not blame the drivers.
