Pretty neat idea, however isn't making a sign like that illegal to display?

It would probably depend more on the local signage ordinances than anything. I don't think there could be any law regulating speed limit signs on your own property...but there could be a law regulating the size of said signs, so it's not a distraction to drivers.
I like the idea nonetheless.
Well if there's not something prohibiting the signage as our pal above said. Next it will be something other than the speed limit and thats just going to cause problems.
However if there is no law in that area , I do not wish that one gets imposed. I hate new laws. Things were fine left alone most of the time.

its an interesting idea, but, you would think something like this would be illegal, but then again maybe its just illegal to post a speed sign that is other then the regulated speed limit
I really wish the people who do stunts like this would actually scientifically test whether they're making a difference instead of just watching traffic and guessing. Confirmation bias is a powerful thing. "Oh, there are still speeders, but the people going slow must have seen our sign!"The sign has been up for about a year now, and while it hasn't completely eliminated the problem, residents in the area say they have noticed a difference.
Interesting...
if it is not it should be illegal.
It's illegal in Texas. I'm not sure any officer would make an issue of it though, since it displays the correct speed limit.
More likely, code enforcement would ticket them for a sign ordinance violation, lol.
