Someone missed the boat on the differential of speed issues that make car vs semi accidents more common, and the reason that 3 (IN, and I think IA and OH?) other states repealed their truck only speeds to reduce accidents and save lives, but he can't make his $$ if they don't crash so I suppose he's upset.

The biggest problem for him personally is that it will now be less likely that a trucker involved in an accident will be exceeding the speed limit, so he can't use that as some kind of evidence of negligence.

As I stated in another thread. I see why it's a good reason to have trucks speed limits different than those who drive civilian vehicles.

The more weight, the more time it takes to stop.
The more the weight, the more the weight shift which extends the time it takes to stop.
The bigger you are the harder it is to swerve if you have to to avoid debris, road hazards, stopped traffic, animals ect.

I know IN and CO (at least the last time I was there over 10 years ago) have different speeds. I'm not sure about any others.

I'm in Michigan and the truckers PSL is 10 slower than passenger cars, depending on the freeway and if the PSL is above 55.
