GPS mirror alerting to...? FAO Ally.

Whilst driving this same road a few times now i have had the warning from the mirror that there is a speed trap up ahead. Now i have looked and cant see a big yellow box so guess it must be another type. The only other thing that is there is a big green post with what looks like cameras on top. At first i thought they could be CCTV but on looking think they could be the "SPECS" type of cameras. Are these used in North to mid Wales? The mirror alerts when these cameras are on the left of me but not as i am going past them on the opposite side of the road.
Sorry i can't be a bit more descriptive but it's difficult to drive and look up at the same time If it helps It's approaching a roundabout as well so most are already slowing down anyway??

While I'm posting a new topic can the law give you a ticket if you get flashed from the front by a Gatso? The mirror only alerts if they are on my side (so they would photograph the rear of my car) yet some roads have markings on the side of the road as you're going towards the front of the camera.

Any onr got ideas on the mirror? i had it again the other day. "Gatso ahead" I kept watching the distance display and looking for a big yellow box but couldn't see one
Would it be saying Gatso if its a common mobile site??

Gatsos are only approved for ass shots.

The new legislation means that "they" can start painting them grey again.

I don't think it would say gatso if it was a mobile site, my GPS(not Cheetah's) highlights a mobile site as an "accident blackspot."

Have you run a database update since you got the mirror?

It could the the Gatso in question has been taken away or maybe it was an error in the database.

One other thing it could be is that the Gatso was on another road and you were just very close to it. I get that with a Truvelo that sits on a road parallel to the one I'm on and is facing the other way from my direction of travel.

So unless you know what was where, you'ld be looking for a Truvelo where none exists.

Other thing, does your system have a motorway function which you can switch on/off? If you're on a motorway and it says gatso, it means the gatso is on a road close to the mway, hence the use of a motorway function to blank those out.

Thanks again Nomad. AFAIK it doesnt have a motorway feature. I have updated it since i got it but saying that I'll upgarde again soon and see if that helps.

Well I updated it today and it still gave me the "Gatso ahead, limit thirty" so I don't know what it is there was a speed camera sighn as it chimed and one of them solar powered sighns for cars coming the oposite way to me so I'm stumped as to what it could be.

Email me the details of the camera and I'll get the database guys to look at it. It may have been removed. You have to report these kind of anomolies back in and we can update things.

If we know the enforcement direction of a camera - that's what the mirror will alert to. If we don't know the direction of enforcement yet, we'll alert to it from all directions.

Gatso's and redspeed / speedcurb take rear shots, Truvelo and Specs take front shots.

I was just down in North Wales recently (jammered up the hilt) and didn't encounter a single camera van... typical.

Thanks Ally, Typical that you never get a laser hit when you expect one. The amount of times I have traveled the "hotspots" only to find no one there! I had a motorbike cop laser me on sunday. He was on a bridge above the dual carriageway.

I can give you the rough location of the camera locations but will pull up near were I get the alert and hit "rescue me" next time I'm up that way if it makes it easyer? On the other one It's a dual carriageway coming up to a roundabout so I can't pull in unless I stop at the service station a few mile up the road but If a rough location is OK then I'll get that emailed to you.

From looking at the cheetah website I see there's a few types of Gatso. I have just been looking for the big yellow type so perhaps they are there and just well hidden and grey?? Last thing I would want is it taken off the database and there is one there but if the database guys check it then it shouldn't be a problem.
