Default Got my first red light camera detection!!

I was in Las Cruces, NM the weekend before last and got a bit disoriented with my Tom Tom. I ended up getting off the right road and having to turn around to get back on it. When I approached a stop light up ahead I suddenly got an alarm on the C100 that I hadn't heard before. Sure enough...I was approaching a red light camera. I got plenty of warning and my wife and I were sure glad we had the C100 with us.

I'll be driving through New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada next month (on my way to Vegas). The C100 will definitely be travelling with me

Yep...that's what I heard. Fortunately, our route doesn't take us through any of the big cities like Tucson or Phoenix. Most of the drive is on Interstates.

I think it's great how the C100 has the camera warnings depending on direction of travel. (You know what I mean,, I just can't explain it.)

Say a camera intersection has 4 approaches, Cheetah GPS detectors can give 4 different alerts, letting you know what's different about each approach.

    For example,
    1. For a direction that is enforced, the alerts can tell you what the camera type is: if it is only giving out red light tickets, or if it is also giving out speeding tickets on green. A usual alert will also tell you the posted speed limit and if you are going above that limit. "Red light camera ahead" means exactly what it says; "Fixed Camera Ahead" means watch you speed too because it's also a speed camera.

    2. For a direction that is not enforced (but there is a bad history of wrecks there) the alerts can be different to the normal camera alerts. Cheetah detectors can say "accident blackspot ahead" to let you know that you need to be paying extra attention but that there are no tickets from this direction

    3. For a direction that is not enforced (and where the accident history is not really that bad) Cheetah Detectors can stay silent. This is really useful for freeway speed camera alerts because it means you are not annoyed by alerts for cameras that are covering the other direction on the other side of the highway. It also means that in urban conditions where there higher levels of camera enforcement, Cheetah detectors give far less false alarms that GPS nav units or radar detectors that are trying to do the same camera warning job.

Basically, the level of detail of alert that can be given on a GPS detector are far better than other solutuions.
