Texas CR8APL8

For those that have purchased CR8APL8's for their vehicles who live in Texas:

On the CR8APL8 website, did you choose Texas style #1 or Texas style #5?

What's the difference between the two? Which is more like the authentic issue plates?

Also, if my plate is 123 (TEXAS SYMBOL) ABC, would I type in 123*ABC? No spaces? Spaces?

Sorry I just have to add my 2 cents, I know erick loves his cr8apl8, but imo they suck. The embossed FULL RED Texas silhouette makes it to obvious it's a fake IMHO. Plus TX is going to all FLAT plates some time this year, it's just not worth it IMO.

Pre 2005 plates did have a solid red silhouette. The tri-colour silhouette, as well as the flag on the Space Shuttle, were added in 2005. If your car is a 2005 or earlier, the CR8APL8 is correct. And cops aren't astute enough to recognise the difference, having seen thousands of each for so long.

Well, I'm about to install a Laser Interceptor Dual on a brand new '09 Tahoe, and even though it's black, I think it'll need a little extra help in the stealth department .

The license plate is kind of tilted toward the ground, so it's a little hard to read from the front. I think the CR8APL8 will do fine.

I just need to know exactly how I should place the order since the website isn't very detailed.

lol that's the same question I asked Erick a month ago. I know that it doesn't matter which one you get because cops will check if the numbers match your vehicle. I'd say get the one without the silhouette because it looks less cheese and closer to the real one that's flat.

Cops don't check the plates that closely. They check the numbers that's about it.

That said, the plates do look different and a cop with an eye for detail will notice but I haven't found one that does so far. The fact is, there's a plate up front with numbers, it's modeled and the numbers match. Plus it's very unlikely a cop will spot the difference as you drive by at 60 mph on the freeway. I'll bet my next Starbucks no whip mocha on that.

The CrapPlate is "good enough" (as much as I hate that term), but it does make you do a double take when you look closely at it. It is mostly that the font is too narrow. Of course, close up, the problems do become obvious. But cops don't look that close up. Like Erick says, they just match the numbers. It would be a very rare cop that would take that "something looks weird about that plate" feeling and turn it into a close inspection. Especially with a clear cover over it. Most cops would write the feeling off to the cover. I don't know about DPS troopers, but you'd play Hell trying to find any other cop in Texas who knows when the silhouettes were red and flat, and when they were tri-colour and raised.

Regardless, It's just an equipment ticket. No big deal, considering the potential benefits. "I lost my plate, and this was cheaper than getting another one from the DMV. I'm not made of money." End of story.
