the connector is similar to that of which you might see on the back of you navigation unit of satelite radio

fortunately the the C100 already has a top of the line internal GPS antenna which works exceptionally well!

The unit comes with an updater CD with drivers.
install them and you would just plug it into the computer to update it.

you can sign up for the email newsletter to be informed of new updates, or check one of he cheetah websites under camera database and look for the latest rev number.
when you first turn on the unit it will have a 4 digit number, for example 0815, if your unit matches the website you have the latest, if not, run the updater.

as Rob said he antennas petty good.
you can run it down low and it will work fine.
i've run them sitting in a cup holder, or even the glove box and it works.
if you're driving and the AC is on, it will be fine on the dash, just take it down when you leave.

I put the C100 in the gps cubbyhole in my G35 and it has no problems keeping satellite signal. In other words the C100 probably doesn't need an external antenna unless the placement has absolutely no view of the sky. All the phoenix cameras freeway cameras are there. A few cameras on I10 downtown may still be listed as 55 zone as it was recently changed to 65. You will need a top of the line radar detector or a good set of eyes looking for yellow signs (or both) for the mobile vans/suvs. The cheetah gives warning of some common mobile van sites, but there are so many of them, if they listed all of them it would get annoying.

Do another update now. Last update was out last week.

We recommend you update the detector about once a month. Just diarise it so you get into the habit.

Will the C100 work inside a motorcycle tank bag then? Or does it need to be exposed?

Should be no problem. It also has an earpiece socket.

I've known one person stick it under his seat!!! (underneath the plastic panel at the rear of the seat cavity near the tail light.)
