C100 questions

1) Does it have brightness options. (like full dark?)

2) Will it interfere with my V1? (I doubt it, but thought I would ask anyway)

3) How does it do in the heat. (Will I kill it if I forget and leave it on my dash in the Florida summer heat?)

4) Can the display be changed for different mounting positions? (inverted maybe?)

1. No. But it is not as bright as you might think. I have the Mirror, not the C100, but Al says the brightness is the same on both. I cut out a couple squares of that static cling window tinting stuff you can get at any auto store, and they lay just fine over the display to dim it if necessary. However, after doing it, I quickly realised that I didn't need it dimmed anyhow, so I never use them.

2. No. The point of the Cheetah is to enhance your V1. And it interacts with your V1 only to whatever degree you program it to.

3. No experience with this to comment. I would probably not put it on the dash though, just to be safe. I think the top of the steering column, or under the dash above the cluster, are the most common places they are mounted.

4. No. Someone asked that awhile back, and it's a good question. Although, I'm not sure what the advantage would be.

So I got my C100 today. All seems to be going well, but I have one question about the update process....

When I tell the software to "start update", a small screen shows up and says...

From [gibberish numbers]
to [gibberish numbers]?

What are those numbers and how do I make sense of them?

And I tried holding down the menu button to exit the menu and she starts telling me "Gatso ahead, limit XX"

I can guess that Holding down the menu button was not what I was supossed to do but what's all that about?

Did I just break my new toy?

i recieved my gps mirror couple of weeks back. It was up to date according to AL. And i havent updated my mirror.

Al has a video on youtube about the process on updating the mirror or the C100. Use that as a reference. I will try to update mine when i get back to from work.....

I do not think you broke it. The unit seems pretty sturdy...i would advise keeping it an the ashtray or coin box. The unit does do a good picking signals up even if it doesnt have a clear view of the sky...

No, your C100 is fine.

first, when powering it up if you hold down button 1, it cycles through all the internal voice alerts.
just turn it off then back on (while not pressing the button of course) and it will be back to normal and ready to go.

As for the numbers on the update screen, it's the last 4 that are important.
when you first turn on the mirror or C100 you'll see 4 numbers, for example right now they should read 0918. that is the database number.
you can sign up for the email newsletter which will tell you of new updates, or go here:
http://www.cheetahusa.com/scshop/Sec140.htm and it will tell you the latest number.
if yours is lower, run the update, if not, you have the latest.


so when it asks, for example, to update from xxxx0813 to xxx0918, then you would pick yes and let it update.
in the pic below you'll see what i mean. at the top it shows your current database version, which in the pic is 0918.
when i clicked the version in the middle to update to, it confirms i want to update from, in this case the same one, so i told it no.
if you had an earlier version, you would say yes and let it update.




once you are up to date, either do the email newsletter, or just check in from time to time with the link above, so you won't even have to plug it into a computer unless its time to update.

Doesn't sound like you broke the C100 contact RacerX or Al and they will help you out with further stuff

Just to update. I am very happy with my C100!

It alerts to cams before my ix, and in one location, catches a location the ix misses.

It calls it an "accident blackspot" but there are two new (but old-school-looking) cam boxes. I saw a flash go off when another car ran the light the other night.

Maybe they are just "test" units to convince Fort Myers to by the fancy expensive units that Naples seems to have all over the place.
