Default Preferred iPhone/Garmin GPS POI database?

    Hey everyone,

Just wondering what people recommend in terms of speed trap databases for driving through unknown areas. I've got an iPhone and a Garmin based GPS, and am heading on a trip from Michigan down to Florida soon.

Previously I've tried using Trapster before, but found it more or less unbearable -- it's more or less just a overpass bridge detector and a mailbox-near-a-traffic-light detector (Seriously, we need some PSA's on what a speed camera actually looks like)

What filter do you use trapster on? I found when I used to use it... if you set it to high-filter levels (in other words heavily reported traps/cams etc)... it is fairly accurate... good enough for a free service.

Ah maybe I didn't configure it well enough then I'll play around with it some more on the commute from MIT back to Michigan and see if the filter levels help. I guess I just got too frustrated it after seeing a couple birdhouses marked as red light cameras

I just installed TomTom maps for iPhone with speed camera and red light alerts, so I'll let you know how it works!

I've played for it with a while at home and the graphics are amazing. So much better than an actual tomtom.

I drove with the TomTom iPhone all weekend and it's awesome. I bought a mount for the dash, so it's like a standalone unit.

It alerted me of several RLC's that weren't in Escorts database and vice versa. Another cool feature is that it beeps when your going about 5 over the speed limit. Plus it's on iOS, so it's easy to use especially the keyboard. I definitely recommend it.

Trapster or PhantomAlert. Both work very well when you set your filtering and location properly.
