Scored a new-in-box Spybuster on eBay! The date in the manual is 1989, and I've wanted one of these since I first saw them way back then. I've been leery of airwatches ever since the first time I got ticketed from one years ago, back home in Nebraska... on a rural road, no less.
Got a brief chance to test it out last night, and it seems to work quite well. We've got a lot of air traffic in Fort Worth, so it was easy to determine that it's working correctly.
For those who don't know, the Spybuster is an airplane detector. Basically a cheap version of a Zaon MRX transponder detector for air traffic collision avoidance. It alerts when an airplane is close, so you know to keep an eye out for airborn VASCAR. Somebody on this forum has an MRX. The ultimate would have to be a Zaon XRX, as it also shows direction (arrows!)
I'm really looking forward to having this in the "arsenal" out on the highway.
