The news says they've got six of them up and running already. But don't worry, it's all for safety.

This makes me so pissed off. For "saftey" bull s***. Its for revenue generation. Nothing else. This is taking away our freedom's as americans. Soon the United States is going to be like the UK where you can't speed what so ever because they have a speed camera every 2 feet.
I really hope somebody steps up and gets the Feds to ban this crap.
I love the way the put the cameras on the 55 mph zones on the SR51 and not in the 65 mph zones. Speed trap BS.
Im sure the reason why most are set up on I10 is to catch out of towners that will not know they are there and just pay up.
If it were all about safety, they would have red flashers on top of each camera to make people slow down. Someone should sneak that onto the next photo enforcment bill in the Legislature.
on i-10 there is a 13 mile stretch with 11 cameras up
These are "no points" right?
Project "BONES" Speed Lab:
Valentine One, Blinder M47 "All Front Configuration"
Pro97 Police Scanner
1 Saves / 3 Strikes as of 8/22/2009
Estimated saves in U.S. Dollars: $200
Only the DPS cameras on the Freeway are "no points" so no insurance implications.
All the other redlight / speed cameras run by the cities still attract points, and that still sees your insurance get jacked up for the next three to five years.
The camera at the SR51 @ Glendale is active. It goes from 65 to 55mph and its on a curve.
I drove by the other direction last night on the way home and saw it go off twice in 15 seconds. I turned around and drove past it just to check it out in case it was a photo van, and as I was in the right lane right in front of the cam it went off in my face........someone in the HOV lane was speeding.
This morning I saw it go off twice in the distance before I got to it, but a Phoenix PD was on the road and everyone was doing 53 mph so none when I got up to it.
That camera is gonna make a lot of safety.....er, MONEY!!!
Something I noticed this week.....I have not seen ONE DPS car on the road.![]()
That onramp at Glendale and the 51 has been a recipe for disaster with the right-hand curve of the road, the onramp not letting one merge until the last moment due to the very long "Gore-zone," and then at the last minute, there's little time to merge into traffic with very little shoulder and the wall on the right.
On top of all that...they place the camera after that point.
'Tis a government operation indeed.
