Illinois photo radar vans

Has anyone encountered a photo radar van in Illinois, and gotten a reading on what band radar it is? I get so many false X and K Band alerts on my V1, I am thinking of disabling the X band feature, but I am afraid that the photo vans work on K band. Should I just turn the sensitivity down on K? I hate getting 6 alerts when I pull into the grocery store parking lot I drive 95% of the time in IL and WI. WI uses laser and Ka almost all the time.

The Vans can only be in constructions zones. I am not sure of what band the Van runs on, but they're suppose to be low powered and at a steep angle to the road. Also, IL also puts K band radar drones in some contructions zones so its will be a bit of a challenge to catch it if it is running on K.

You should be able to disable X band but I'd leave K band full on. I'd probably have PoP on too for that little extra k band response. Falses suck but tickets suck more.

That's what I figured. I think I will turn of X and play around with the K band. I know the vans only can be in construction zones, but like 90% of my highway driving is in those zones. If you live in the Chicago area, all the highways are construction zones all the time. And the drones in the signs suck too, it just gives tons of K spam. I just don't ever see the vans when I'm not in traffic. I'm more worried about the laser in WI and from Illinois staties.

I know in the past year I saw an LEO in the melrose park northlake area runing constant on X.

there is a thread here somewhere about what towns still use X band in IL.

I switched jobs so my commute now is mostly highway so I don't see much local LEO's driving around.

I'm all over the burbs and city. I'm sure that some places still use X Band, but I get sooooooo many false alarms with it, I don't even pay attention. I live in Lakeview, and in the city the detector is pointless anyway because you can hardly speed, its dangerous as hell to speed, and cops dont pay attention anyway, except on Lake Shore Drive. But, I drive on the highway alot, and almost all highways around the city are "construction zones". Most burbs use Ka, and the staties use Ka and Laser, and WI staties use almost all Laser. If the consensus is the speed vans use K, I will leave it enabled I think and mess with the settings. I think I am going to get some Veil for a little more laser help Speeding in town is a little dangerous, I usually don't do it, so I dont worry about cops anyway, its mostly highway and large state roads that I worry about.
