Dodge Charger Police Vehicle in Va.

I live in Va. and was travelling on 64E in New Kent and saw an unmarked Dodge charger with someone pulled on the side of the road. Has anyone else seen them emerge in Va.? I always like to know what vehicles Police are using. Also, while on subject... are the new Impalas going to be used by Police or is Chevy going to continue making the older body style for Police?

The new Impala will be offered in a police package, although I don't know which engine will be offered with it. The 5.3L V8 with FWD means lots of torque steer. They should have gone back to RWD.

I wonder how much the Charger is going to cut into Ford's market share with the Crown Vic. I suppose the cops who write the most tickets will get to drive the Chargers. In a town near me, the cop who wrote the most tickets per month got to drive a Camaro B4C!

ive seen dodge chargers, magnums, minnetonka has a viper, st louis park has a pt "looser", highway patroll has a pontiac transport mini van (unmarked) eden prairie has an unmarked trail blazer or 2 and numurous explorers. I have also seen 2 caprices that were still being used. And while doing community service we saw 2 dodge mini vans with lights and sirens flying throught the city followed by an impala.

FCPD and VSP both have a myriad of marked and unmarked patrol vehicles. Crown Vics, Impalas, Camaros, Mustangs (Foxbody and SN95), even some BMWs. I've seen a Mistubishi Eclipse, a Ford Windstar minivan, and Chevy trucks all with people pulled over. I once got a pacing ticket from an unmarked white Chevy 1500 van. I knew it was only a matter of time before they got the new HEMI Dodge Charger police vehicles.

Fortunately, with all their funding for brand new squad cars every year or two, Virginia police haven't spent money to upgrade their antiquated speed detection equipement. It gives us VA radar detector users plenty of early warning.

I saw a post on another board Halton Region (Ont) is using a dark green or black Dodge Charger as a stealth cruiser. I wonder if there is a "cop package" they are making available.
