    Default Hard Wiring Question

Does anyone know the answer to this.
I have a V1 that I am planning on hardwiring to my Vehicle.
    Utilizing life speeds remote display.

I plan on buying an STI from Roy.

My question is can I use the "phone cable" on an STI.
(I need the STI for Canada, but prefer the V1 for the USA.)
Or do I need to have different wiring for each RD.
    Thanks so Much.

Previous experience would say they should work.

From the post that I have seen, they are interchangable. Just make sure that the polarities are the same.

The STI uses a four pin phone connector. The red wire is +12 and the green wire is ground. These two wires are in the middle of the connector. The other two wires are used for the "smart cord" functions which I assume are unique to the STI or Beltronics in general.

Yes. Check out Beltronics web site under accessories. The same power cords are used for the RX65, STi Driver etc. And the RX65 power cords do work fine with the V1.

Edit: I meant to add that the same goes the other way as well. The V1 power cord with the remote V1 display will work with the STi Driver as well. However all the LED's will always be off on the V1 remote display, and the remote's "mute" button will have no affect on the STi.

How about a smartcord direct wire for an 8500?

I know the smartcord part probably wont work, but what about the power part?

Yes, the Escort power cords are the same as the Beltronics. The 8500 and the X50 smartCords will work as well to power the V1. However, the "mute" button on any of the smartCords will have no affect on the V1, and the "alert" and "on" led's on the smartCord will always be off.
