    Default ticket

 The maid will come back and check on it again? You say you got in in NYC-pretty big place for them to come back and check. wondering-anyway for you to fight it? I have seen a few people fight their tix and win so you may want to go that route.

I would go to court and fight it.
I would say she got the wrong car and show the judge a picture of your car (without the plate cover) and point out there is no cover on this.

Risky. It then becomes your word against the meter maid's, and the judge is likely to buy the meter maid's theory that you took the cover off. Best case, I'd say, is the judge gives you a fine reduction for mitigating circumstances. Worst case, he doesn't buy a word of it, and has you arrested for perjury.

Just fight it. . they won't get you for perjury - they got better people to deal with. If you lose, atleast you got your 65 dollars worth and wasted the meter maids time - the judges time - and the paperwork time.

I agree 100%...fight it! What's the worst that could happen :?: You'd still have to pay the fine. The best that could happen :?: It could be dismissed or at least reduced. You would think in a big city like NYC, there would be more pressing situations to focus on

I know once I got a tix for an expired inspection. All I had to do was prove to the court that I got it done and they dismissed the tix.

Maybe in this case, plead ignorant..."Sorry Judge, I had no idea that it was unlawful to have a plastic cover on my license plate...as soon as I received the ticket, I removed it immediately, sorry". How do they know it was a shield? They just think it was a plain 'ole clear cover to protect the plate   The judge may just dismiss it which would be cool..... 8)
