Most LEOs that I know are really nice guys! Most of them don't know jack about radar and lidar, but they are cool. They aren't stupid either, rather smart to be honest. They just aren't "into radar" like we are.

I am sure that most mechanics would say the same about the general public when it comes to cars. We just use them and they work, we don't care if we drive them good or bad, or if the oil light is on......lol.

I wish I could say the same. I really do hope that the LEO's that I run into do get better and kinder as I see more, they protect us and try to keep us safe and I would hope they are nice. Now, I have only run into on duty, patrolling LEO's. I bet that off duty they nice Christian young men, but on the job, I always get stuck with the ones with a 10 foot pole up their butt, which makes me lean way to the 'liberal' LEO stance, anti-LEO, or conservative, depending on how you look at it.

Very good analogy to the mechanic, I like that.

Default I dont think you quite understand at all...

First of all, the people on those police forums seem to be like the people of every other forum. If they know more than you they are going to use it against you. When I first viewed this forum the other day I thought the only two people on here were: 1. People who own an escort or valentine that think everything else is crap 2. poeple that own those so called "crppy" detectors that seem to be perfectly content with them.

I think you misunderstood those people, especially with the x and y thing. When the member refered to the x frequency and y frequency, he was using x and y as variables to explain his post, not specifically saying there was an actual 'y' band:
""If it's meant to operate on frequency X but actually operates on frequency Y but suffers no degredation in accuracy as a result it will not be thrown out. Why should it?""

I have met many LEOs and I must say a lot of them aren't the most cheerful or selfless people you'll know. But I can assure you that the majority of them are not disrespectful or rude. Perhaps this one forum gives a bad name to LEOs. Unlike a lot of people I respect police officers and what they do, and dont knock on them at all, because I know what they have to go through with. I just think a lot of corruption and bad people have given tham a bad name.

They did make a good point too... you wouldn't have a radar detector if you weren't going to be speeding. 1 mile or 25 miles over, your still speeding.

Unless you spend the same money they do on your detector that they do on their radar, I dont think it is wise to put doubt into their equipment.

They are trained to use the radar gun, not study what brand is best and what band they are on.

Always a possibility but I seriously differ to what I said before, just a bunch of wannabie kids that failed the exam. The quote above is a perfect example of someone not knowing what they are talking about. X or Y, I dont buy it, if it was a real officer there is no reason why he would not refer to X or K, etc. Then again there are some amazing things police officers have said that make you scratch your head, perhaps they are just toying with us, but again just my opinion, those boards are full of themselves, just like that individua lthat has his very own loaded police crusier with everything, all the radios, kughts etc, honestly that schould be put a stop to because it is blantently obvious a person like that that is NOT a officer of the law is using a crsier like that to UNLAWFULLY intimidate others. There are all kinds of people out there in this world, alot of them are full of shyt.

    Default Fact is.....

Believe nothing you hear and half of what you read fellow speedster. Most of the s*** going down on those forums is total garbage. I'm reading most of it as well when I need a good laugh to piss myself, true. Most HP don't know diddly squat about the technical side of their speed detection equipment, that again, is a sad fact but true none the less. Don't get me wrong, i'm still learning every day about the technical side of all this stuff too, it's very interesting.
However, you do know HP Cops being HP Cops and all, they will soemtimes lie in your face and hide behind a badge to prove they are superior to most public, therefore making you believe they can walk on water and swim on land. The internet is a great sorce of s***-stir-ability for their small minds. Don't get me wrong, 'most' and I use 'most' very loosely, know radar/lidar's correct operation. Like when i ask an HP officer about Lidar cosine effect, no idea.....i'm still pissing my self laughing
Although, if you need to know the correct location for a Krispy Kreme shop, they are your men in uniform. All in all, when in doubt, ask lot's of questions to the right people and ask none from the guessers. The Guys of Lidar e-mail is a gr8 start. Speed safe, Kbuck1984
