    Default Can they do this??

I had some questions about how police do there thing when they try to radar people. I searched and found a real police forum. I started asking questions and for the most part they were totally unprofessional. A few of them were telling me that my detector may not pick them up if the cop decieded to change the freq of his gun. As far as I know this is total bs, but I wanted to check with you guys here just to make sure. They were also talking about being able to change it from X to Y. They didn't sound like they were blowing smoke more like maybe they just don't know the truth. Answers anyone??

yes if they moved the frequency it wont alert, but its not possible to do this unless it falls out of tune and then it wont work!

they can only fire the gun there are no tuning screws on the outside of the gun!
guns only come in the frequencies of bands
    10.500 - 10.550 GHz (X band) 24.050 - 24.250 GHz (K band)
    33.400 - 36.000 GHz (Ka band) 13.400 - 13.500 GHz (Ku band)

and also older no longer used band equipment eg s band..

jimbonzzz will tell you more about this...

real police forums most do talk bull, same forums also slag theses detector forms.

they should be telling you how they use either pop or instant on to avoid radar detection....

X2. No point in it as it will not be accurate. Also...I have never heard of Y band. S band was prior to X band but I believe they don't know what the hell they are talking about

What is the site? We should all go on there and voice some oppinions. LOL

    http://forums.realpolice.net/

I went in there with honest questions and I searched then posted my own. This morning I continued to read some of my searches for "radar detector". These so called police officers are so cocky and rude to everyone that has a question. I am starting to feel really bad about police in general now.

They are a bunch of wannabe police officers that failed the entrance exam.

I have heard of one adjustment some radar guns have, it is NOT power adjustment, and is NOT a frequency adjustment, those come set from factory, they may have a gain adjustment setting which could effect targeting range and could be looked similarly to power but really it is not.

Jim has commented on this before, even if a radar gun is very badly out of tune, I am talking huge numbers, the radar gun will still get your speed, the effect of being out of tune that much will be very minimal, standard is +/- 1 mph, badly out of tune gun will be +/- 2 mph.

LOL! I checked out those forums a long time ago. What a waste of time. Hopefully that is not representative of law enforcement in general. I know some LEOs and they are not like that.

I know we have our differences from time to time, but we aren't nearly as rude as they are!

Just goes to prove the stereotypical LEO: IQ of negative infinity, ignorant, and an "I'm better than you are" complex. Can you tell I am not in favor of LEO's. That whole forum is why.
