    Default general question regarding RD's

If you are the only one on the road is it possible for the RD to detect a LEO's band before the LEO has gotten your speed? Or does it just mean that you KNOW you got nailed if you were speeding? Is the range of a radar gun longer than that of a very good RD?

    thanks

thats instant on, killer.... no radar detector can stand up to it

The range of modern radar detectors is well beyond the range at which a police radar unit can clock your speed. So in most constant-on situations, you're well-protected with a radar detector.

    what about constant on radar?

can an STI detect a legit source of police radar before my speed is recorded if i am the only one around?

constant on is not a problem, even for cheaper detectors

    its instant on that sucks

cops are smarter now so they usually use instant on

the lazy ones just keep them on even when they are driving

Instant-on isn't necessarily hard to catch. Usually there is SOMEONE ahead of you that you'll pick up.

Yeah, I got hit today with instant on (or he just turned it on). I was going my merry way and all the sudden I got full alert on Ka. I looked around and he was travelling RIGHT beside me. I guess he was hoping to nail me when I got in front of him. I slowed down to match his speed and he slowed down, so I kept going at 70 (65PSL), he didn't pull me.

VA doesn't (at least where I live, Richmond) doesn't have a lot of instant on. Thank god for RD bans!
