Default possibly a dumb mounting question

Ok hopefully I wont sound to ignorant here. I have always windshield mounted mine near the dash for last 15 years, so it can sorta rest on dash and not jiggle so much, which cant be good for the detector. I would like to mount a new one near the rear view mirror but it jiggles quite a bit with every bump in the road. Anyone have any ideas for keeping it stable or is the mild jiggling ok for it. Hopefully not to dumb a question. Thanks

Hard wire it and drop the wire from the headliner right next to the detector. The wire will help support the unit and if the suction cups loosen up the detector will not fall - it will just hang on the wire.

The Visor mount sounds like a great way to go unless it's at such an angle that makes it point at the hood. I would HardWire the unit then play around with the mount by bending it a litte to form fit the detector to the glass. After this the detector should be flush and not bounce as much. I would then ZipTie the Detector cord to the Rearview mirror incase your suction cups break free. Hope this helps

Its very easy to adjust the visor to the proper angle afterall they rotate to allow for adjustment. You may have to insert something to keep it the proper position buts its no bid deal.

Its less noticeable and if your RD is prone to heat..... Sti..... it stays cooler away from the window and in the AC flow

Since noone asked, I will...What type of detector. This makes a difference. If it is a Bel, then make sure that the tongue is all the way in as far as it can go without it making it unlevel. Then get some of those clear bubble looking bumpers at RadioShack.

Could you post an image of these bubble bumpers? I would like to see a photo of these.

They look like miniature breast implants.

Its a brand new Bel 895, car has less than 30000 miles its a corolla not a caddy (no shock problems) the metal windshield clip is rather "springy in nature" so any slight bump translates to some vibration in the mount without some form of support
