V1 has the best mount followed by Bel. I can mount the Bel's level and solid on my windshield, it's immposilbe to do this on my windshield with the Escorts. V1 and Bels I can mount stable. Doesn't matter how I bend the bracket or adjust it, the Escorts bounce some on my windshield.
I can vouch for V1 Dave because I too have a V1 and compared to my RX65 it is much more stable. Not saying that the RX65 is wobbly just that when I first got my V1 I barely even pressed on the suction cups and it stuck really good. And it comes down real easy when you press the quick release "bar" too. Also, where I live the streets are filled with not potholes but craters and if I hit one I will shake and bounce before my V1 ever does. So between those two I say the V1 outbeats the RX65 by far!

BTW, the RX65's mount was very nice, I had no problems with it & it actually took me a while to get used to the V1's mount, it was a little more difficult to get used to but it's second nature by now.
My experiences:
The V1 has the hardest mount... to mount, mine would not stay on the windsheild for the life of it, I had to try to bring the suction cups back to life, and now there are only 2 (out of all the ones VR gives you) that will hold it in place.(Must have been real old suction cups)
With that said: Once you get the V1 mount on the windshield in its position and get the V1 mounted on it... its ROCK solid.
Well where to begin...
V1_dave. I said the STi's mount worked better than the V1's. Not Escort's (I've tried the X50's and you're right about that bouncing around) not Cobra's and I haven't tried any of Bel's other RD so wouldn't know about them. The STi has rubber bumpers too... have you engaged with this piece of information because this is the second time I've told you? THE STI HAS RUBBER BUMPERS... are we there yet? ... or are you still going to lie about the V1 being the only RD with this feature.
The aptly named Radar_Dick. The board has recently been through exactly this scenario with some zombie accusing Air Moore of not really owning a V1 only to wind up looking like a complete cretin and apologising abjectly. If you want to be taken there I'll be really happy to oblige you... seeing as it's not often that I get accused of being a liar and a cheat. I'm in New Zealand so I don't have the 30 day right of return because Mike V's marketing genius prevents him from selling overseas. I also had to pay substantially more than you did just to get it. Aaaand I can't post links to competitors of Radar Roy and neither would I want to. I imagine I could post a pic holding both RD's with my middle fingers extended if you'd like that?
The V1's not really a backup, it's a great detector, I'd be happy using either. The window mount is a POS whichever way you slice it. It manages mediocrity because the V1 is so light and because the V1 has the rubber bumper on the front (that's right V1_Dave just like the STi). Plug the curly cord into the V1 and it lurches to the right (yeah the curly cord is too short as well but no doubt that's the greatest in V1_donkey land too)
The STi's mount is better because it's simpler, it's locked in place, set it once and forget it, and because the extra mass of the STi means it doesn't bounce around much. The world moves on... except for the V1

The V1 comes with both a straight & curley cord, with a RJ11 plug on either end, unlike the belscort products. If you were bright enough you'd realize the straight cord doesn't create tension. Additionally, the V1's remote display (optional, with it the cost is near the STI) contains all of the information unlike the belscorts which show power & alert.
Both mounts work well IMO. Just what do you have against the V1? I usually lick mine and have had problems with them sliding when wet - you have to baby them until dry. My v1 fell once but it was propped up by the rvm & then rested on the cord. If my mount fell often I'd silicon (or use "goop" as suggested by another poster) the cups in place.
