Programming of Bands - Better Performace or ignoring alerts?

I have a question regarding the programming of bands. If
a customer turns off x and k, does the detector just not alert the motorist
of signals detected on those bands or does it stop scanning those bands
completely? If it stops scanning those bands completely, does it give
better performance on Ka because it is not wasting time scanning the other
frequencies?

The same thing applies with turning off X and K band.
