    Default x50 on highway

i currently have a V1 (3rd one) and i am getting less and less happy wtih Ka range...CHP only uses Ka so i need the best Ka possible. Is x50 going to be able to get a Ka hit from behind with minimal traffic for reflections? or am i pretty much SOL with rear range? reason i got V1 in first place was because the CHP like to come up behind you and hit you from behind.

I believe A-Town Navi said he used to get some killer rear-range from LEO's coming up from behind (even on Ka band)...(ATown if that wasnt you forgive my lost memory).

Honestly, as you well know, it certianly depends on the terrain infront of you for the radar wave to reflect off of... thats key... even with minimal traffic it really shouldnt be a problem.

The signal strength obviously wont be as high as the V1, but the X50 really is a top-notch detector, and should have no problem detecting an LEO trying to sneak up behind you long before you can spot them, or they can clock you.

I would say though the X50 really is more of the all-around performer of the Top 3 detectors, the RX65 seems to have the Ka owned, and would probably yeild a bit better Ka response, but K band will suffer, and laser you dont have a prayer... even though being a veteran on here you know scatter isn't something you can/should rely on with any detector (V1 OR X50)... the two best laser detectors (of dash mount RD's) out there (the V1 by a margin in laser though).

thanks for the response airmoore. i think im gonna trade my V1 in for an x50. my new revision .851 is horrible at Ka range and im sure a few others with the .851 will and have agreed. if the x50 has good rear detection, i should be good. i had an x50 before the V1 but didnt get to really play aorund with it.

Ive had pretty good range from rear on my X50s Ka, this is night time with NOBODY on the road, but there are buildings for reflections, I had one experience where there was a LEO behind me (Hard Ka I traveled 2 miles and it was still HOT, so I knew he wasnt ahead of me, >2mi ka front is too good to be true) so I pulled into a parking lot, and I started counting, I got to about 45 before he passed me, on a 50MPH road, you can do the math if you want, but im too lazy to do it now

I love my X50 but usually the KA is never good range. A few times I have gotten about a half of mile with KA. Just my experience.

i've had good experiences with my x50 on Ka even over the hills, and K is just as good, imo it's an excellent all around performer and doesn't false a lot, I say give it a try

Honestly againstme! I would get an X50 from an authorized dealer and use it for a good 3 weeks, that way you can decide wether you like it or not, and within 30 days simply return it if its not your style.

With what I have been seeing with these 3.851 V1's and members stating the KA range, I am certain the X50 will provide better Ka detection.
