    Default Decisions, Decisions....

I've done plenty of reading in here, and have basically come down to two choices for my first radar detector: the Beltronics rx65, or the Escort x50. I live in Orlando, but do some traveling through I-95 and 441 every so often. FHP use Ka(or is it K...) but I dont know what Orlando police use. Which one of the above RDs would be better suited?

Also, on a side note, how much is laser used here? If used extensively, would it be worth getting Veil for my rather laser-reflective vehicle(White '03 Expedition)? Or would it just be a waste of money?

Hopefully you guys can help me out on my first RD purchase(from Radar Roy, of course)

the two detectors are very similar so depends what features you like. I think you should go for the x50 just because it's exp mode rocks and the alerts ramps up quicker and more accurate than the rx65. But you can't go wrong with either one, and you definetly need a jammer for that huge SUV maybe an anti-laser

    Dear ELVATO,

Being a V1 user and having owned the X50 for a brief time (13 1/2 days) I noticed the X50 has much better city filtering than the RX65 (I own it but not in use anymore). And as stated above it does ramp up much better than the RX65 and you definately can't go wrong with the BLUE display. I like how the RX65 has voice alerts, but lately the voice part of the voice alerts is hard to hear with the stero on at a normal volume. Both are great but I also side with the X50. So I guess I make X5! Hope this helps you out.

    Sincerely,

    Ace_Racer

Forgive my ignorance here, what is an "E" occurrence?
Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

-V1 3.872 (1.3 Mi. C/O Ka pointed away from me. 3.6 Mi. C/O K)-Bel RX65 New Backup (4.1 Mi. C/O Ka 35.494 Ghz, light traffic) -Laser Interceptor Gen-8 Dual (No saves yet ) -Bel 980. -Galaxy DX 959 with a peak and tune.
-Wilson Lil' Wil antennae. -Whistler 1585. -Whistler 1430. -Passort 3200 w/ 1000 laser detector (got stolen, bought one off ebay for nostalga).
-Cobra Trapshooter RD-31XX? (Can't remember silver/teardrop shape X, K only). -Cobra Trapshooter RD-3110 (my first RD in 1987, when Cobras were good, bought one off ebay for nostalga new in the box). -Kustom HAWK. -Kustom Falcon cordless K Band. -Kustom Talon.
