    Default Rx-65 or x-50?

I noticed on Radar Roy's website he states the RX-65 is the best RD he has tested. About the x-50 Roy says this is the most advanced and sophisticated ever. For those of you that have one or the other, what made you make THAT choice and why did you NOT buy the other?

When I first got into detectors, the Rx65 was my holy grail of radar detectors, the rd that I wanted above any other. This was based on what I read on Radarbusters.com. Well, I sure didn't have $329.00 to spend on a rd. I have owned Cobras many years ago, But the first rd that I got recently was the whistler xtr-280. As I read this forum, I learned more and more. As you can see by my signature, I have gone through a lot of detectors in the past couple of months. Well, the first good detector that I could afford was the bel v955, because it was onsale at CC, so I got it, and it worked well. Then I noticed that the V995 was on sale for $249.99, so I took the 955 back, and got the 995. I really liked the 995, and I was happy cause I was finally near the top 3, but I still wanted the Rx65. I decided to hardwire the 995, and I accidentally fried my smartcord while I was checking for positive and negative wires...so I return it to circuit city...but they don't have anymore in stock...what to do?? I realize that bestbuy has the x50 for 299.00, so i decide to get it. I realize that the v995 and the rx65 are pretty close as far as performance, and features...So any ways...I love the x50. It wins hands-down because of it's features. The only return on the x50 was to get the blue display. The thing is that I always thought that the x50 was so ugly. In the beginning the only reason that I got the x50 is because it was the only other high end detector that I could get around here. Now, after spending some time with the x50, I don't think that it is ugly at all, and it is such an awesome detector. The v995 falsed way too much, and I like the alerts better on the x50. The alerts on the 995, and the rx65 are pretty much the same. All in all, I never intended on trying the x50, but now that I have I would never give it up. Oh, I still want a rx65, and a valentine, but the x50 will always be my main detector

i chose the X50 because it was one of the best in all the tests i read and it was the cheapest lol it was hands down better than the cobra i had(xrs9700) and i just recently had the RX-65 and i was just astonished that they would seell something like that. it was just horrible, half the detection time that i had with the X50

Thanks - most appreciated. So I gather that if you had a choice you would prefer the 65 over the 50? or did I misread that. I know you said the x50 is your choice.

NOOOOO, knowing what I do now... I would never choose the 65 over the x50. And I did have the choice, I was in oklahoma city, and could have returned my x50, and gotten a 65 while I was there...I'm so glad that I didn't[/u]

All comments from owners good and bad comments are appreciated. As you can see I have the V1 which is being upgraded to 3.854 but if VR continues to have issues, I will be going for either the x65 or the x50.

x50 seems to ramp up more accurate to alerts and has awesome exp mode (threat display) but both units have the same radar antenna, only the software and alert tones are completly different
