Micro Fuzion laser detector (inside pics)

I got this unit in my hands today and wanted to share some pics with you.
It seems a pretty cheap led-based detector, chinese construction with poor abilities. I did a short test with a ProLaser2 and the unit wouldn't go off immediatelly, like it had to.
I was disappointed with the performance of the unit. Using the RLT-500 tester, when testing a BEL550 or a V1 or a crappy Quintezz detector, even with pointing the wall, all the detectors would go off , receiving the reflections of the signal. The Micro Fuzion wouldn't go off unless you would point straight to the led-operated sensor.
As you will notice by viewing the last picture of the series, it is printed on the PCB the place of many led diodes to receive the signal, but apparently they are missing.

The diodes that appear missing have nothing to do with Laser reception. The laser reception should be the diode behind the metal shield. This is done for EMI reasons.

Any diodes not behind the shield would be for emitting IR such as the jamming.

Is the unit you have claim to be a laser revceiver/jammer or simply a laser receiver?

It's a laser receiver of course.

Definately the empty space looks like places for LED's on a jamming head. Looks like a decontented "Laser Mimic" device under a new name.

Can confirm that this unit is useless.

I mounted both heads in different positions at the front of the car and drove through a set of IR controlled traffic lights a good few times

My old Whistler head was going crazy, the Micro Fuzion heads didn't do anything.

I also got hit by scatter (I hope) on a motorway. And again zip out of the Micro Fuzion heads.

I did test these units before taking them on the road and only a direct shot sets them off.

I'm still trying to work out why the SPL logo is on the micro fuzion website.
