Oops! How about a radar aimed across the road at an angle test. Some of the sneakier cops do this to try to minimize the amount of radar they send down the road to warn other drivers. I know time is a big factor during the testing period so this may not be feasible.Originally Posted by RadarRoy

Well, in order to "simulate" photo radar, simply point a regular gun at the rear of a passing car. Assume the cop will then radio ahead to his cop buddy up ahead to pickup your car.
Tell the cop shooting the radar at about 20 - 25 degrees as the car passes him.
Since cops REALLY do this, and that is what photo radar does, SML should test that.
But since it will probably only show the very best radars providing any amount of warning on this, they will probably pander to the lowest common denominator and not test this way.
I will be the first one to get one. :roll:Originally Posted by RadarRoy

well hell...lets just get a RMR unit and sell it on ebay and tall everyone it is the best scrambler on the market and is VG4 stealth...thats what idiots semm to be doing at the moment..haha
My understanding was that a company wishing to participate at SML has to pay to have the privledge of having the gear they make tested. When discussing SML it sometimes appears that money is not part of the equation. In the course of full disclosure, it would be nice if someone communicated what was involved in getting "SML" tested beside saying "we invited them".
Roy, do they allow video to be shot of what they do? If they did believe me I would be there if I was invited.
Jason
The manufactures, dealers, that are testing equipment are charged. The normal charge is $1500.00.
The fee(s) collected go toward the salary of 4 - 5 police officers that do the tests, 4 - 5 staff salaries of SML, rental cars and equipment.
Police officers from various agencies, police radar/laser companies, press who are interested in attending, can with prior approval.

Oh, sorry missed that question
No photos or videos during the actual testing is allowed. They do have their own video person and photographer that edits out protype equipment that the companies do not want released
