I believe it. I know I feel much more comfortable when I drive with a RD. I'm past my reckless driving stage that I had for the last couple years since I'm now 19. I still speed over the limit because if I drive the speed limit I just about fall asleep or space out. Speed limits are way to low for what my car can handle.

Also driving a little faster than traffic keeps me out and away from bad situations. I don't know how people can drive boxed in on all four sides (excluding rush hour). All it takes is for one person to screw up and you can't go anywhere. But if you can get out away from traffic, which will require going a little faster than traffic, you'll be safer. having a radar detector allows you do to that without worrying about getting a ticket.
