Default Why majority of people don't use a radar detector?

If I remembered correctly, the peak years of the people who were using a radar detector are in the late 80 to early 90 because laser gun doesn't exist yet. But now, most people don't bother with such device.

Why? Here are the choices I thought of.

    A. Most people think RD is useless.

    B. It is annoying to false.

    C. They don't speed as much anymore.

    D. Cops will not be forgiving on writing speed ticket to RD users.

I think its because people don't want to be bothered spending the money or they are just waiting to get a ticket before they get one :?

Some people most likely think that having a RD makes you more prone to speeding. I personally disagree. I speed regardless. I just like to reduce the risk of being ticketed. IMO most people don't use them because they don't know much, if anything, about them. I have a good friend who believes that RD's detect the radio waves from the LEO's police dispatch radio. Surely if people were more educated, there would be more users. But then...if everyone had a RD there wouldn't be anyone speeding through speed traps and police would be forced to change their methods. And no one wants that.

I think most people think having an RD is bad. Their consciences wants them to believe that they don’t realize they are going 5 mph over the speed limit on the freeway constantly, but if they have an RD it is like admitting that they know they are going 5 mph over which makes them feel bad.

Isn't that crazy? I hear the same things too.

Just two days ago I had someone try to tell me they were illegal in Illinois. He said they had signs saying they were illegal. I was like do you mean laser jammers? He said no radar detectors. I just laughed.

I've had so many of these types of encounters, I don't bother trying to prove them wrong anymore.

In my speech class, a couple days before my speech on RDs, this kid was telling me there was this RD that was so powerful that it was illegal. WTF? I tried explaining to him, but dont think he believed me.
I think both the first and last one go hand in hand.
Plus, the fact that there are a lot of Cobras, and people who ride in the cars of Cobra drivers see that its not worth spending 100$ on something that tells you "Emergency Vehicle Approaching" when there's a cop like 50 feet away.

Plus, the fact that people think they are cop detectors. Gotta love it when someone is riding and you pass a cop with no radar unit, and they say "Why didnt it go off? My RD(Cobra) would have detected it from a block away"

Alot of it has to do with ignorance, many people believe RD’s don’t work for the reasons mentioned above. Over time Uniden Cobra has designed RD's that have been mockery to electronic engineering standards. Detectors that fail to detect KA until they literally in the center of the beam about 200 feet away from the LEO. People also have been ignorant to believe that a $50 Radio Shack detector or Uniden will provide protection. Most people have no idea what IO is or a Rabbit for that matter and certainly not what a good radar detector can do. I guess it’s better for us that people are this ignorant, if all motorists knew what we know there would be a much fiercer race to design speed measurement equipment to defeat RD's.

    I agree, with richardboy

The average person thinks that detectors don't work or they are illegal.
If you really want to break it down, the Average person would be
using either a Cobra or an RMR because they just haven't educated
themselves on detectors. Most of these average detector users
don't care about learning they just expect them to work in any
circumstance. For instance they wouldn't have any idea what
" Instant On " is and would wonder why their detector didn't save
them thus concreting the idea that detectors do not work.

The way I look at it is like this.
If you don't care enough to learn about the product, then you
    deserver to get caught.

It's the Darwin effect, those users are meant to get caught.
