Plz help me make the right choice!

I want to buy a radar detector as a Xmas gift to a friend who lives in Greece....checked it out a little...I am between the Valentine 1 V1 and the Bel 995.....I m stuck....which one should I choose....???

V1 however if you do not live in the U.S. you'll have a hard time getting one!

I'm just curious why you are torn between the most expensive radar detector and a midrange. If you are willing to dish out the bucks, I'd be more torn between the V1, RX65, X50, or STI. That's my opinion.

As far as which one to choose...if you HAVE to pick between those two, I'd go with the V1 hands down. However, if you chose from the list above, I might be pressed to go with theRX65 for value or the STI simply cuz I have an X50 and want to see what I'm missing. :wink:

When I am not using my V1 I am using my BEL vector 995...The performance it is very similar to the V1 on K and Ka which are the most important....Good luck. Now being in greece yu might want to get a detector that is ment up for international use....The BEL 995 is great but so is the BEL 975r. The V1 is quite good but hard to get to greece.

Between those 2, definately V1 is better. In my opinion, the STi and V1 are the best detectors for North America. I'm not sure exactly what they use in Greece, but the V1 covers it all. It has Ku band and The narrow Ka band option (euro mode) for the radar cameras like Multanova.

If you know some one you can trust in the USA or one of the Canadian provinces Valentine Research ships to, have them order it for you after you send them money and then they can ship it to you in Greece.

Just remember the Valentine still has "E" issues popping up. I'd get the Bel now and upgrade to a V1 6 months down the road when they finally have the E's worked out.

I think the E brief problem was worked out awhile back. It was a very brief problem and didn't affect many people and those that were got the issue resolved. All of the people I know that have V1's (quite a few) didn't have any E's. I think staton had some sort of trouble with his that was resolved, but I don't think it was an E.
