I am thinking of painting the housing of a x50 flat black, I think the the gray with the marketing logo's are tacky, anyone done this?

You know, I too, think the X50's graphics look tacky. It appears more like a toy than a high-tech countermeasure device (*cough* partly why I went with the V1 *cough* :P ).
I'm sure repainting it would work, but I've never tried it. Just make sure you do a good job and not to get any on the radar/laser lens!
Also, post pics if you do decide to do this.![]()
I was thinking about painting the 8500, but kinda got worried about re-sale, I wonder if that would make it harder to sell, or drop the price if you ever wanted to sell it.
I'm sure it would drop the price substantially since the majority of people would want the device to look the same as when purchased. This would make me not want to paint mine if I had one, but if anyone else wants to tackle it, more power to them (although they should be sure they aren't going to get rid of it anytime soon).Originally Posted by DogGod
Reselling it would suck if you had painted it. I had to use a black sharpie marker on the silver 995 #'s. The reason I did this was the silver attracted too much attention and since I use it in a commercial motor vehicle, I didn't think I needed that attention.

If by stealth fighter you mean the relic of the cold war technology F-117A, then yes you are correct! I saw the V1 demo videos and the v1 looks like it was something made in the late 70s to compete with the early Passports. It's like carrying a phonebook strapped to your visor. The Valentine One looks like a stealth fighter and the Belscorts look like a silver womans electric shaver or other pleasure-giving device.
Why not wrap your x50 with black electrical tape to reduce the visual signature and profile?
I've been trying to find high quality phone line that uses black insulation. The $1 store junk isn't crimped properly with correct insulation color coding.
