    Default Detection Question

I have been wondering if it would be possible for a radar detector company to make a radar detector that would pick up the band your close to , and actually tell you when you've been hit with the radar/laser. Sometimes you pick up radar from a long distance away, and sometimes a very short range. Would it be possible for the detector to make a certain noise when it picks up the band and a different noise (same for every band), when you actually were hit with the radar/laser?

It would be a good feature because of the instant ons, and short range pick ups. Also it would give you the benefit of you knowing your speed when you were hit , if you got pulled over.

if your detector is at full strength you are close enough to being hit directly with radar

I think pbboy is saying the RD distinguish a scatter pick up from a direct shot. Is this right?

So you want something that tells you that your car has been targeted, not the the car ahead of you. This is usually the case when you get with laser. It'll either be at full blast, or close to it when your car gets hit, but maybe at one bar, if even at all(scatter) if the car in front of you gets hit. With radar, I don't know if this would be possible.

With radar it's really difficult to determine if you were the direct target because of its scattering, but with laser you can bet with fair certainty (I'd say 80%, but I'm an optimist ) that if you get the alert, you were the direct target.
