    Default road salt and RD

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the veil forum, but I have a couple of questions about road salt. My charcoal gray car is white at the moment and until the roads are dry, there's no point in washing it - it's white again in one run down the hwy!

    1) Since it appears that road salt reduces reflectivity, would it reduce the effectiveness of laser?

    2) Can road salt on the windshield reduce the sensitivity of an RD mounted on the visor?

    Thanks.

    Yes.

Technically yes, but probably by such a small amount that sensitive lab equipment would be necessary to notice a difference, so don't worry about it.

Salt in water is very conductive. But it doesn't seem to affect radar reception that much. I suppose it depends on how thick the layer of salt is. I don't let it pile up too much though.

Its worth giving it a quick wash to get that salt off, its very harsh to paintwork and will strip the wax and make rust appear from nowhere!

The longer it's on the paint the more damage it will do.

    Default I recommend

I recommend you cleaning your windows at least every time you fill the tank w/ gas. I do it sometimes more than this because I want great detection.
