question about k band
i have the whistler pro 58 running in city 1 mode. When I get near this one location by a university, I get a K band alert. There is a gas station and a CVS pharmacy across the street as well as one of those crossing signals that chirps for the blind. Are any of these items causing the false? The same thing happens again a few miles down the road near a shopping center they are building. The signal strength is only a 4 in both locations.
Automatic door openers cause this. They operate on K-band.
The CVS or any other store with self-opening doors are usually to blame for K-band falses. With whistlers, too, due to their band identification algorithm, if you get right up close to them they'll appear as strong Ka band too.
CVS and Walgreens are infamous for K band falses. I am not sure why they are so strong. But like the others said, a lot of the automatic doors with give you X or K band falses.
anything that can be done about this without sacrificing detection distance or turning off the band?
Not without buying the new Escort
Yeap, unfortunately, you (as we all) have to live with falses.
