Warm up your car, set it to defrost, let it warm the windshield. Have a warm cup of water in your hand dip them in it when the windshield is warm.

put it up after its warmed up, and never take it down, you can take the RD with you or whatever, but just leave the cups and the bracket up

Heating up the suction cups helps, be it through the use of the heater, or in hot water.

    In a word....VELCRO.

If you don't trust the heated suction cups and other suggestions, there is always clear silicone cement applied to the suction cups. They won't fall off after you cement the cups to the window. If you ever need to remove the cups, just use a single edge razor blade and it will take them off no problemo. A lot better than having your RD crashing to the dashboard or console.

With the subzero temps. My suction cups just failed too! I went to the visor mount and really like it.

My suction cups were perfectly flat and had no curvature to them. Looks like they're worn out. I'm not even sure how old they are!

I know in the past that putting them in some hot water for a few seconds then removing them seems to help.

I left the mounting bracket on my windshield and the moment i touched the bracket with my V1 it fell... that was five days ago.... i can only use my v1 for like 6 hours a day.... then i just remembered the visprmount may have to give that a try tonight .........

Don't screw around with the stock suction cups. Go to some place that sells craft stuff. I went to Fred Meyer and bought a pack of suction cups that are just a little smaller than the ones from Escort. They had little metal hooks on them, but those slid right off. I paid a total of $1.05.

These cups are much deeper than stock RD cups so they stick like glue! I put them on in 70° weather and the temp has gotten as low as 10° without a problem. I even tried pulling the RD off the windshield and even when I pulled HARD the cups wouldn't give. Great investment!

I've never had a problem with the V1 suction cups even when it's been -15F outside, The one time I had to reapply them was when I brought it in one night because it was going to be -20F. The next morning I went to put it up and it needed to be reattached... I put the suction cups in some warm water and used a hair dryer on the windshield and hasn't fallen since.

Boiling them for a few seconds and they will work like new.
