Is this a radio wave shield?

I am thinking about getting an RX75+/SR7+/SRX, and have been looking at the front of my car, where the radio antenna would go.

The ideal mounting location would have a metal "mesh" in front of it. Fine galvenized "chicken wire" sort of, with 1/8" to 3/16" square grid.

With the little I know about radio waves, this would equate to some sort of shield, attenuating the incoming waves, resulting in reduced sensitivity.

If so, how much of a reduction do you think it would be?

if its a hard plastic, you shouldnt tell any if much of a difference. If its metal, its hard to say without tests and actually knowing how much of the receiving antenna is blocked.

^ Another consideration would be cutting down on the effectiveness of the laser jammer. This has shown to be a rather big problem when mounting "recessed" behind such grills. :cry:

Aesthetically, without a doubt, the hidden mounting would be most pleasing, but the cost, particularly to laser-jamming performance, is rather devastating.

x2 on the laser jamming tsi it severly reduceing laser jamming capabilities if it does hardly anything at all at that point..which would be highly debateable that the jammer would be effictive at all..
