What happens to returned RDs??

Many on this board suggest and or take part in the Escort/Bel 30-day money back guarentee. Abuse of this GTY I imagine drives up costs (restocking, packaging, marketing) and cuts into the bottom line (units are not being sold at retail price), which in turn keeps the Retail price of units high.

So where do these go, Mexico, Europe, Asia?

I also thought I read that this GTY can be only used once per person, but there are many ways around that, change of address, shipped to work, different credit card or family member.

I think the GTY is great and I'm sure only a small portion are returned or they would not have the GTY.

BUT WHERE DO THEY GO?
Are these all the refurbished units that can be found on different websites?

No really, that is only a "secret" that the manufactures can answer for sure

This is where you see detectors for one hundred bucks less on ebay. :wink: Just a guess.

Just to provide a perspective, when I used to work in retail, non-defective returned items often went to a few "outlet mall" type stores that were sprinkled across the country, or if they were basically unopened, we'd just put them back on the shelf. Depending on the value of defective returns, they were either sent back to the manufacturer for repair or were tossed in the trash. The then refurbished items were sent to the aforementioned outlet store.

This is well known. Most shoes even or sweatshirts that they didn't sew quite right go to outlet malls. This is why they are cheaper. As I have said before, "you get what you pay for!"

Iv heard of rd units being refubished.
It seems to me it would be a wast of electronic materials to be trashed.
How about a recycled radar detetor :roll:
