    Default 33.788 Ka in Toronto??

    Ladies and Gentleman,

a member here informed me he get's a Ka radar at the QEW/Gardiner Expressway and Jamison exit. He said it is 33.788, this seems to be a false. As I understand they only use the MPH Bee 2 in Toronto which operates at 33.8 range.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

I have only ever seens MPH and 33.8 radar being used in TO. This sounds like those very exspensive motion sensors we see at BMW and Mercedes Dealerships, but in Parkdale????

    Thanks

Yeah, it is KA 33.778 or 33.733. Day and night, east or west on Gardiner near Jameson exit.

I ignore them now, but was curious to see if any other member in the area also gets this, and if it is a real hit or false.

It’s the only KA I have been getting.

    EDIT: from a search
    33.700-33.900 (MPH Industries)
    34.600-34.800 (Stalker)
    35.400-35.600 (Kustom/Decatur)

33.788 is only 22 MHz away from 33.8 which is the frequency MPH guns use. Spec/tech mode isn't super accurate, and radar guns do drift off frequency, sometimes up to +/- 50 Mhz, if not more.

Since you confirmed that MPH guns are used in that area, it is likely a real LEO radar.

Not likely since people are getting it in the exact same place day or nite.

    Its a false.

    Island Airport?

Metro Traffic Barracks near the Ex grounds?

    The huge windmill?

Helicopter pad at St. Joes hospital?

    Navigation buoys in the harbour?

Someone should see if the signal is directional. It would help pinpoint the location. Can you get it on the Lakeshore? on the Queensway? up Jameson?

    That's a legit 33.8 MPH radar at +/- .015.

Well I drove the area with both the Sti and RX65 pop on/off and....... nada

I did pick up a Ka 33.792 coming east on Lakeshore but it turned out to be a Metro cop.

My guess though is the Legion Building on Lakeshore has quite the array of cell & microwave antennas on it. I do get falses on my Sti at 33.752 so its quite within the false frequency

On the other hand the cops like to shoot laser from that location in the nice weather so they may be monitoring traffic with their Ka and the windows up having a coffee. No Tim Horton's int the area so my vote is the Legion.

It could also be a false sometimes and a cop other times
