Issuing Tickets to two cars

I've always been curious about this.

If an officer was clocking with radar and noticed 2 cars speeding could he pull both cars and issue a ticket to both cars?

they do have the authority to but, they would call in back up for the other vehicle

They do that here a lot. I see it mostly in school zones. Example. 2 vehicles took off from the light at the same speed forgetting they were in a school zone. The officer on foot up ahead shot one vehicle with laser then stood out in the road and made both of them pull in. Same with radar.

Not really. Some depts have a back-up policy, meaning when you make a traffic stop you have to radio it in and dispatch will automatically start another unit your way. This is usually done in depts that are not very busy.

It is very easy to stop multiple cars on the freeway or out on rural roads.

Yeah, teeto you are right on that one. In my city that back up policy is you automatically get backup on a traffic stop when it is dark outside. However every officer disregards there back up most of the time. I live in a big city to.

usually in the case of Jason yes all he has to do is get onto the road to stop 2, but in all seriousness like for example 2 street racers take off and 1 cruiser sees it, he goes out lights on, 1 can stop, but whats stopping the other one from gunnin it out of there at full blast???

Most of the time the officer will take off after the car that guns it. Bigger offense at that time. If you can stop both he will. If he does take off after the vehicle that is trying to evade he will ask for backup and maybe give a description of the other vehicle that was also involved that he didn't stop.

How about this... LEO clocks two cars and tries to pull both. One pulls over and stops, other takes off. LEO goes after the car that takes off, leaving stopped car behind. What's to stop that car from leaving if there isn't any backup at the time?
