    Default Cost Justification

Just currious if anyone has figured out how much just ONE ticket would cost figuring going 15 mi over. Based on someone with a clean driving record.

    Cost of the ticket:
    +
Increase in Insurance per year x how many years points are retained.

Someone told me $160 and she was only going 4 miles over but not sure if that is accurate.

(trying to show some stats to my wife so I can justify a V1)

    Call your insurance company.

It seems each state is different as far as the price of the ticket will go.

Your insurance rates will also widely vary based on previous driving record, accidents, age, marital status, etc, etc.

It will all depend on where you get it and what not. Same with insurance, it will all depend on who you have.

I've seen varied amounts when people post in the Tickets section. If I remember correctly, when I got my first (and hopefully last) ticket, he said that he was reducing it by 5 miles, and that it would save me 100 dollars(cost me about 120 for the 10 over he wrote me up for, if I remember correctly.) And then I've heard of 200 (at least) for going 10 over.

it varies way too much. State by state, driver by driver, and a variety of other factors for insurance.

Well here in Missouri, for $200 you can get a lawyer (about $60) to appear and turn it into a non moving violation (about $140). So $200 instead of $130 or so for a fine + insurance is well worth it. If you could do that, if your V1 saves you twice, you've paid for it.

Not all states are not like that though. A average fine is near $150 or a little more. Then your insurance will go up for the next 3 years. Even a $10 increase per month (which is not outrageous) will be $360.

If you want to prove your point though, you should call (or have her call) your insurance company and ask them how much your rates will go up for the next 3 years if you get a speeding ticket.

Hey Five - He pulled over to let her pass then pulled her over!!

The other person, my coworker said the cop did a U turn and pulled him over. Wrote him up for 4 miles over as well.

    Maybe same cop?

Anyway, ordered the V1 a few minutes ago. I suppose it may be easier for me to ask for forgiveness than to justify a purchase

Honestly, if that was me my temper would have BLOWN. I would have yelled at him until he arrested me and cuffed both my hands and legs.

I got pulled 2 times for not having a front license plate.
1st time I was lectured about my obligation as a licensed driver to display a front tag
2nd time I was threatened with arrest if I was observed driving again without the front plate. As I kept silently nodding he then upgraded his threats to a vehicle search which would result in my vehicle being impounded and sold at auction if it was not 100% street legal. Then said he had written down my address and would drive by my house sometime in the coming weeks to verify if I had the plate installed or not.
I was about to go Bruce Banner about three times during this extrodinary BS lecture but kept the cooling jets going.
So I know how you feel.
