NYPD Constant On Methods with pic - Question

Hello, this is a pic of the Belt Parkway westbound in Brooklyn, which I have been caught speeding in the past.

The Blue rectangle represents a NYPD highway patrol cruiser sitting on the side of the road so that as you approach, you see the rear of his car, and a radar antenna in constant on mode is in the left side of the rear windshield. What the officer does is he hides behind the post of that overpass so that the left side of the car (with the antenna) is sticking out, catching people with his radar.

Which brings me to my question: The road slightly curves to the right before the overpass, so that the officer cannot visably see you until you are about 1/8 mile close to him, maybe less. If the officer is running constant on, can he record your speed if there is not a direct path between you and the cruiser? Can radar bounce off the guardrail and record your speed?

I have picked up the officer with my V1 in advance on that road, way before he can see me. When my V1 goes off (before I visibly see the cruiser) can he record my speed if I am the only car on the road? Thanks

Technically no.

Can radar bounce off the guardrail and record your speed?

Yes.

Most likely the way he was hiding is surely a typical speed trap and you may have been clocked before you noticed him even if the V1 gave you the alert - the V1 may just gave you a weak signal because the pillars block the radar's signal and all of the sudden, you get a full bar strength. Sometimes we don't pay attention to weak signals specially when there are false signals around the area.
