I would get the STi. I own one and it has been a faithful companion. It has many advantages, like not being detectable in Va, DC, Eastern Canada, etc. And SPECTRE is everywhere these days, even in US states where detectors are legal. Spectre is used against trucks, and if they decide to pull your car over they'll know you have a detector if it isn't an STi. That means no breaks, and the maxumum fine the officer can give you. It's all over the net: police don't like RD users.

Then there's falsing. Obviously the 9500i is going to be good at this. But the STi is really no false alarm king, it's pretty accurate.

I own both, and for raw performance the STi wins hands down. It doesn't seem to matter where I take it, it's always a solid performer. It has excellent false alert filtering, and it's built like a tank.

Can you elaborate on that? Cause I live in CopHell, Texas lol...

Although RD's are legal, I'm really wanting to go with an STi...I don't want the cops knowing I have a RD and just following me around...

They follow you around for no reason sometimes...

My last encounter was a cop making a left turn from the middle lane on his red in order to follow me (I was making a lane change to the left, my car went half way, then I realized I should be going to the right, so I pulled back and he noticed me from the other side and came really fast to follow me...)

If it wasn't for the 5 or 6 13-year-old kids who were trying to cross the street and stopped right in front of the cop and didn't move for 6 secs :lol" after I turned... I would've definitely been pulled over...

Texas is big, flat, & the humidity is not to bad. This lets radar travel much better than the north east, where we have a crap load of trees, hills, curves, and its humid as hell.

They'll both do great in Texas. I recommend that you have a good habit of always taking them down from the windshield, and leaving them in the shade while you are away from the car.
