Can cops pick up your speed on a 3 lane (in each direction) interstate divided by a grassy median if they are driving hte opposite direction as you?
    thanks

I use 1500 ft as a guide. On Interstate 10 to SA which has a lot of terrain like what your describing DPS tends to shoot under 1500 ft. I've had them IO me at approximately 800 -900 (est) and I can tell I'm right on the bubble but of course, I drive a small plastic car. So yes, they can tag you from that distance.

yes, 3 lanes and a median are not wide enough to defeat the radar.
yes, your vehicle moving in the opposite direction (coming or going) will not defeat the radar.

When there is a cement median for miles along a three lane freeway I really don't worry. Maybe he could catch me but I still think it would be really hard to decipher me among many other cars even if he radioed to a pd car on my side.

    Maybe I am wrong though.

if the road is empty they can yes. if its heavy to moderate traffic my guess is if you hang out in the middle or right lanes they can not. just a guess but common sense.

That's why I like those cement medians. Makes it kind of hard for them to make a U-turn to come after you.

I have never seen (nor heard of) them on the opposite side of the interstate and radio to cars in the opposite lanes, especially with moving radar. Besides it would be too hard for them to make a positive ID.

They added these wire truck fences to 45N. I also saw they were adding it on I10 last time I went to SA. In addition to adding secruity from oncoming Instant On threats I also feel more secure from the random car flying over into my lane.

that's what they did around here also. the small wire fence prevents the u-turn, there are no gaps. the primary purpose is to prevent a rogue car from crossing the median....now driving down that highway is a whole new different experience for me. i'm still wary about moving radar around here even though it is rarely used.

If you were driving along and your detector went off on this road, and there are five or so cars on the opposite side could you tell which one was running the radar?

Yes, they can pick you up, no they cant prove in court it was you.
But, they can still write you a ticket.

Thats why cops are switching to Laser. But they cant use it while moving.
