Yes, but the error is so small in most instances that it is irrelevant.
thank you for your answer
But...what about if the Multaradar C(radar camera) is standing 5-10 meters out the road and not 1 meter out of the road?
Can the cops do this if they want to have good results?
I didn't see any camera more than 5 meters out the road but I'm curious about this :?
The further the radar camera is from the road, the more cosine error, causing the motorist's speed to read lower on the radar.
So you mean my 135 mph will show as a mere 125 mph on the ticket I get in the mail? Whew!
Depends upon the angle, but always in the drivers favorOriginally Posted by methos

I was under the impression that since the camera is stationary they simply calculate the cosine error and the computer corrects it.
Good call.... I didn't even think of this....Originally Posted by christosxo
Ya in stationary mode cosine error is good for the driver but in moving radar its the opposite (i think).
the speed cameras are set up so precise and they only book cars within a certain area of the camera/radar footprint, so each reading will be the same where as mobile radar is all over the place.
they have set guidelines and regulations so dont ever think cosine will help you out on a speed camera![]()
