Escort Vs. V1. = $

I've been really interested in testing out a V1 but can't seem to
get past the Price Factor. I know its free to try but if you deiced
to keep it, you still have to come up with the cash.

So why is the V1 so much more expensive? I know that it has a Rear
Antenna but it doesn't have a LED display, shouldn't that even out the
price between them? I could understand if it had an LED display and
a Rear Antenna, that would make sense.

I'm interested to hear from everyone why they think it should
cost more.

The V1 has several led displays:

signal strength
warning type
bogy counter
directional arrows

It also has a magnesium case and is upgradable.

It retails for 399.95, more than the Escort 8500 x50 but less than the 9500i.

Seems like reasonable pricing to me, given the features and great performance that has been well documented.

Oh, I'm not knocking the performance of the V1 by any
means. I've heard it's well worth respecting but more
so than an X50 or RX65 as far as you get more for your
money?

Sorry I didn't specify when I said LED.
I didn't mean LED Diode Lights or an
L on a small square. I meant something
like all the other detectors

for example:

I remember back in 92 when I was unfamiliar with my Uniden
detectors Audio alerts. I would have to squint to see what band
was being recieved because of the Small LED diode lit up beside
a painted on X, K, or KA label. I kinda feel like the V1 has a 1992
look to it but has state of the art performance.

Yeah it does have that old look to it. After owning a couple of other detectors, when I got my V1 I was happy with its look though. It's good to finally have something different. The tones on the V1 are very disguishable. Even though I think all the belscort and valentine detectors could pick a better tone scheme, I don't have a problem distinguishing the tones whatsoever.

Anyway I think it is worth the extra money. The arrows are really helpful, and it seems more customizable (sp?) than my previous detectors. Also VR seems to be a lot easier to work with if you have problems, or so I've heard. The upgrading is a nice benefit too.

if you ask me the arrows are the only thing that makes me keep the v1 and what makes the v1 worth $399. rear antenna is good but not so much .I see you have a x50 allready i can allready tell you wont see that much in difference in ka range. really dont expect to see a whole alot more range when you doi get a v1 :wink:

Let me put it like this....

Sure you can get a X50 or whatever alot cheaper then retail because there are dealers (approved or not-approved) on the net where ever that may be. Its like buying a KIA or other throw away cars for that reason, because you dont plan on keeping it that long any ways. Sure they have the MRSP but its sold even at below dealer cost and people who what that type of car they want it for cheap or cheaper then the "Joneses". As for the V1 pricing there is consumer value built in and there is no reason to discount that V1 because its value of the customer is not devalued at anytime due to the devaluing of other RD's like the Escort or Beltronics. V1 is like a Porsche...if you want a Porsche...you have the $$$ and you dont want look like a cheapskate asking for a discount and you feel better that you paid full price because you know you just bought a Porsche or in this case ...a V1.

Save up. Get a Valentine One. You will absolutely love the range. Also keep the X50. If you realize you don't need two RD's then eBay is your friend. You will get most if not all of your money back.

V1 is not meant for everyone.

V1 must be mounted in order to function properly. Be sure to allow enough distance between you and radar source when using a V1. You should not engage using a V1 when operating any other detection equipment.

Detection equipment carry some risk of dependency. Do not stare at V1 arrows for an extended period of time without consulting with your doctor.

A few V1 cases include users experiencing a feeling of inadequcy with other detection equipment. Other symptoms may include the sudden desire to seek and find more radar and lidar accompanied by an urge to video tape these encounters.

Ask your doctor "if V1 is right for you".

orbital75 keep your x50 that is a very good rd to have i have used a x50 rev5 and they have good range in ka never a false alarm unless i have pop on.anyway's yes get a v1 you will like it alot but like i said range is not all that big much more than your x50 in ka band :wink:arrows and the bogey counter is the #1 thing about the v1 and goood range at times :wink:
