Hello folks! Newb here, interest generated by a ticket just received in Madison Heights, Mi. This Police department has in the last year or so received all new police cars and equipment, including radars. Up until yesterday, my V1, a y2k model, has been flawless in every situation. And usually, I try to make it a point to stop at the stop signs and stay close to the speed limits around here because I see the police around here all the time. However, this time, was driving down a street close to the house, trying to get a load of frozen food home and out of my no-ac econo box car and passed what appeared to be just another black late model Chevy Impala parked on my right. Just after I pass it, to my surprise and horror it lights up and pulls me over, my house in my view. The officer gets out, and asks me if I know what I did. Since my V1 did NOT give a peep, I said no, no idea, and he says 35 in a 25 zone, and asked for lisc/reg/ins. He then asks if anything is on my driving record, and I advise of the two received in the last 5 years. Then he comes back to my car and throws me a curve ball, a no points, non moving violation, impeding of traffic. I suspect he used the POP function to time me with. Since there where no points, just a fairly stiff fine ($160), I didn't want to risk making things go south by challenging him on the radar mode. Not sure it would do much good in this situation, but will immediately send the V1 in for POP upgrade and tune up, now that this threat has proven to be reality here. Am very interested in any comments and wisdom on this expereince.

ops: Normally I'm looking for and spot these cars, but in this case, it's one of those times it just flat didn't register in the brain as a threat. Kind of like an old boxer that occasionally sees a punch coming but for whatever reason just doesn't react to it and duck. It's in those times I rely on the detector as a last ditch defence and quick reaction for saves. Works well "most" of the time. But if an officer says he's using Radar, writes so on the ticket, and my detector didn't report, sumpn's not quite right. :?
