You guys ever see people with their RD pointing practically straight up from their dashboard? I see all the time and it just odd that they would do that on purpose.

Yep, I see this all the time. Seems that common sense would
tell you that if you point something straight towards something
else it picks up better. It baffals me that people do this but
if you notice their normally using a cheap detector. Anyone
with any knowledge about Radar wouldn't do this.
They're trying to pick up aircraft radar...
they are called cobra users![]()
They want an alert before the mother ship lands.
i see this alot too.. I'm convinced its so that they can see their display better.. the ones I see are always pointed to the passenger side some as well.
These users are probably tired of the detector's chattiness and found that pointing it upwards made it quieter (and dropped the effectiveness down to almost 0).![]()

This seems to be an ongoing problem all across the U.S. Classes need to be formed to show these people the correct way to mount a stinkin' radar detector. Is it really all that hard to mount a radar detector correctly? It's even in the users guide. Maybe these people don't know how to read? Clueless!!!
Part of it is probably also how crappy RD mounts are. When I use my Rx-65 with the stock suction cups, often one will come up then the detector will kindof hang from one cup and rotate to all sorts of useless directions.
Anyone passing me before I have a chance to fix it will think im a fool.
