Default Ferrite Choke Core for Laser Falsing

Just recently purchased a Ferrite Choke Core from Radio Shack
to stop Laser falsing while the horn is blown. I was told this would be
the way to stop the Laser falsing from happening. Anyways, I need to
know if I purchased the correct item. The model # is 273-105
but the diameter of the hole the wire passes through is about the
size of a #2 pencil. I'm thinking this has to be the wrong part
because the hole is way to large for my Escort hardwire Smart cord.
Could some one verify this for me.... thanks

It is the correct part for those trying to solve isues with noise on their power cords.

You can run the cord thru it 2 or 3 times by looping.

There is no guarantee that this will solve your problem with your horn unless the electrical noise is being sent up the power cord.

If the noise is being coupled directly to the IR detecting diode(s), anything you do with the power cord will most likely not be effective.

Let us know if it works for you.

This weekend I'll go ahead and install it.
To be honest, I'm not sure I have enough
cord length to loop it a few times. I have a
high mount and most of the cord had been
stretched out as far as it can go. I'll take
a look and see if I can install it, if so I'll
let the board know if it worked and solved
    the problem.

My issue is every time I blow the Horn, my laser
goes off. Is there anything that will solve the problem
or is this device my best shot.

    Thanks Michel B

    Default Laser falsing

    Orbital,
I don't know if an issue I experienced is related to yours or not, so here goes. I experienced erratic laser falsing when I had my RX65. It wound up that my spark plug wires were bad and triggering laser falses. Is it possible that the wire plugs, that connect to your horn, are not making a perfect connection? If they were not, could it be possible that they are arcing and causing the falsing issue? It's a free check if nothing else.

Well, not sure if that could be it. The only time I get a false is when
I blow the horn nothing else sets it off.

By the way guys..... The Smard Cord has two wires that break off from the
Smart Box..... Which Wire should I wrap around the Choke Core? The Wire
that goes to the fuse box or the one that goes to the detector.

I would think fuse box, since there may be a backfeed somewhere in your electrical system.

Humm.... How many times would you recommend I wrap it?
