That's something I hadn't thought of. I don't have a 9500i, but I do have a Belscort STi with SWS option. If SWS is ON, you'd clearly get the safety message. If SWS is off, would you get a K-alert or no alert? That is, is it just the reporting or the whole recognition of SWS that's selectable? Since the V1 doesn't have an SWS option, does that mean that it reports a K-alert for SWS, or is it smart enough not to cause an alert?

In all my years of driving with Belscort products, I have yet to see an SWS alert, anywhere. At least in the midwest where I am, they aren't widespread.

As for the mute button on the cig lighter cord, that is an awsome freebie. Unless your car is like my wife's Nissan Murano where the cig lighter is in the passenger footwell. Whoever designed her car's interior needs to be beaten with a Salami. But I digress.

I think you won't go wrong with either detector.

Don't fool yourself, there is plenty of Ka in NJ. Even Laser is popping up with the state troopers.

I just made a post about this i have both the V1 and the RX65 (same platform as teh 9500i without the GPS). and i find that the V1 falses to much for my area and i am in NYC so for you i would choose the 9500i. I however would never buy a RD used.

Why not? The reason why both these people are selling their v1 and 9500i is because they both want the money for upgrades on their car. Atleast thats what they tell me. I have seen pics of the v1 with box and everything and it looks perfect, I am still waiting for pics of the 9500i.
